Feburary Meeting Lost Constellations speaker Frank Dutton

February 9 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

  • « January Meeting Speaker Terry Parish
  • March Meeting »

Lost Constellations takes a journey over 40,000 years to look at how our 88 IAU constellations were arrived at and how the sky was perceived.

By the late 19th Century our charts of the night sky started to lose their artistic rendition of the night sky and became more scientific.

Constellations came and went and various astronomers put in new ones, some stayed some went, however the mix of Greek and Arabic star names remain. All will be explained.
